STRATEGIC PLANNING
NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION
In this case, members of the StratACUMEN team worked with a nonprofit organization undergoing significant organizational change. The key leaders both at the board level and among the senior staff were leaving the organization. Some of these departures were expected and planned while others were due to organizational conflict.
The StratACUMEN team conducted online surveys, in-depth key informant interviews and three “day-long” retreats to develop a robust situation analysis. This was followed by a separate “day-long” consensus building session.
Once these sessions were concluded, the StratACUMEN team, in collaboration with the organization’s board, created three planning teams. One team was focused on Governance, another on Internal and External Communications including Branding, and the third on Financial Planning for the organization. With input from these teams, StratACUMEN team members assisted the board in developing updated mission, vision, and values statements, new goals and objectives, six key strategies with appropriate action steps and an interactive executive dashboard to help them manage, control, and evaluate the implementation of the plan.
